My Romantic Plantation Home

It’s Here! Amy’s DIY Corner

I am so excited to be launching my new line of Do It Yourself (DIY) products that will allow you to turn all your old candle jars into new shabby chic treasures! Enjoy this slideshow starring my new products and tons of AMAZING DIY ideas in Amy’s DIY Corner!

 

 

Amy’s DIY Corner – Dyeing Mason Jars

This is a very fun and very easy project. You can create beautiful colored jars to be used for decoration, gifts, storage, and so much more! Take a look, and don’t forget to let me know what you think!

You will need: your clean, dry old candle jars, food coloring, cups or ramekins for individual colors, Mod Podge in glossy finish, parchment paper, and a cookie sheet.

SUPPLIES – You will need: your clean, dry old candle jars, food coloring, cups or ramekins for individual colors, Mod Podge in glossy finish, parchment paper, and a cookie sheet.

Put individual colors into ramekins and mix with about a teaspoon of water. Make any color combination you like!

Pour about 2 tablespoons of Mod Podge to your jar.

Pour the contents of one of your ramekins into your jar.

Carefully twist the jar around to completely coat the inside of the jar. You may want to do this over a bowl in case of drips!

STEP 6 - Once covered, pour excess into the bowl, and place upside down on the paper to dry.

Repeat steps with all other colors and jars.

Place the jars face down on wax paper and a cookie sheet. Place into an oven, set on warm. Let dry upside down this way for about 10 minutes and then flip them over and let them dry another 20-30 minutes.

Inspect to make sure streaks are gone and the glass is clear.  If streaks are still visible, as in the top of the jar here, continue to let it dry out in the oven until they are gone.
